Frequently Asked Questions

May I tour your facility before I board my pet?

We would love to show you our facility. We have set times that we give tours. Click here for more information.

Do I need reservations?

We require reservations in advance. Although same-day reservations can be made, we encourage you to call us sooner if you need us.

How far in advance should I make reservations?

We recommend calling us as soon as you know you need a home-away-from–home for your pet. Summer time and holidays are our busiest times and sometimes we have a waiting list two months in advance. If it is a busy vacation time for people, that usually means we are busy also.

How is the boarding rate charged?

We charge just like a hotel. The arrival day is charged no matter what time your pet arrives. Check-out time is 11:00AM daily. Remember when we bathe your pet on exit, the check-out time is waived and you’re allowed to pick-up anytime we are open that day.

Why do you require a deposit for holidays?

A prepaid deposit for a holiday is our way of confirming a reservation for those times when we are typically very busy. For most holidays, we end up with an extensive waiting list. The deposit encourages someone to call us back to cancel if necessary. Once we receive the cancellation, we are able to accept a new reservation from our Waiting List.

Do you mix pets?

We do not mix pets from different families without prior authorization. We do offer playtime for pets from the same family but who are boarding separately.

What do I need to bring in for my pet?

Upon arrival, we need to see your pet’s vaccine information. Please see our vaccine requirements. We also need to see a credit card from you as well as a driver license. Please let the receptionist know of any medical conditions your pet may have as well as any medications. We will also need your approximate pick up time.

Do you provide pick up or drop off service?

We offer our limousine service for those who want to arrive in style. Check out the Information page for more details. One of our friendly staff members will come to your house and pick up your four-legged friend and bring them back to the Resort. We do have a limited driving area and advance reservations are needed.

What vaccinations are required?

We are very strict about our vaccine requirements. Please see Essential Information for more. We need to be able to verify your pet’s vaccines either by using the receipt from the vet or by calling the vet. You can also fax us your pet’s vaccines in advance. The fax number is (310)539-9151.

Why do you require bordetella every 6 months?

Most veterinarians feel that since a dog is at a greater risk of exposure to canine cough in a boarding environment, the vaccine should be given every 6 months to provide better protection. If your veterinarian gives the vaccine annually, we will require one within the last 6 months.

What type of food do you provide?

We are proud to carry Science Diet brand foods. Our house formula for adult dogs and cats is Sensitive Stomach. We also carry Senior & Puppy Small Bites for dogs and Kitten for cats.

Why do you charge to feed my own dog's food?

We charge for owner supplied meals because it is very labor intensive for us to make sure the correct dog gets the correct food. The Science Diet brand foods we carry are on a cart so that we can feed all of our dogs in a very timely manner. We do not charge for veterinarian prescribed foods.

My pet is on medication. What do I do?

We are happy to give any medication your pet requires. We charge $3 per day per pet for most medications. In order to comply with OSHA regulations, please be sure to bring the medication in its original container. Please do not add the medication to the food. We want to be sure that your pet is getting the medication he or she needs. If your pet is diabetic, we will gladly give insulin if he or she needs it. We charge $3 for a single injection per day or $5 if it is given twice a day.

What if my pet gets sick?

If your pet happens to not feel well, we call your veterinarian first. If they are not available, we call our veterinarian at VCA Clarmar Animal Hospital. In the case of a late night, weekend, or holiday problem, we are 5 minutes from a state-of-the-art emergency clinic. Our normal routine is to get help for your pet immediately, then we will call you to tell you what the problem is and what the doctor recommended.

Can I bring toys, bedding or dishes?

We like to think of ourselves as an all-inclusive resort. We are happy to provide soft, fluffy fleeces for your pet's sleeping comfort. We also have our own dishes that are sanitized daily. Our toy box is full of fun toys. We prefer to use our own as we can easily disinfect them.

What if my pet has fleas?

Our facility is flea-free. Any pet arriving with fleas or flea dirt is required to have a flea bath at your expense. Pets leaving the facility are guaranteed to be flea free.

My pet is on flea control. Will he or she still need a flea bath?

If we find live fleas or flea dirt, a bath is required upon arrival. While Frontline and Advantage are extremely good products, sometimes live fleas can still be found, especially if the environment is heavily infested.

Can I get my pet bathed before I pick him or her up?

Yes. We do require a bath for dogs on departure after a stay of 5 days or more. If it is under 5 days, we can give a bath on departure at your request. Remember, when we bathe your pet on departure day, we waive our 11:00 AM check-out time. Check out our Spa Services for more information

Can I bring my pet in for a bath only?

Yes! We would love to see your furry friend for just the day. We recommend call in advance so we can get your pet scheduled. You can drop off as early as when we open and pick up as late as closing. You can also get your pet our Spa Day package–Day Care with a bath.

Can I pick up or drop off my pet after hours?

Yes. We offer After-Hours services everyday. Check here for more information.

What if my plans change?

We know with traveling things can happen. Just call us if your plans change. If your pet was scheduled for a bath, please let us know as soon as possible if you can’t pick up the day you had planned. We want to do the bath the day he or she actually leaves.

Is there someone on property 24/7?

Yes. We have someone who lives on property.
